May 24, 2013 – Conway, S.C. – Earlier this month the MBREDC presented Horry Telephone Cooperative (HTC) with a resolution of appreciation. The resolution recognizes HTC for their continuous work and contribution to economic development in Horry County.
“Not only does HTC contribute a substantial economic impact on the community in their own right, but they are also instrumental to our team in helping us put the best deals together for our potential projects. They are always willing to come to the table and help us get the deal done. We appreciate all our utilities and partners in the community and this resolution is our way of officially thanking HTC for their hard work and dedication to creating jobs,” said Brad Lofton, MBREDC President & CEO.
HTC is one of the largest employers in Horry County with over 700 employees and HTC reinvests more than $30 million in capital back into the community on an annual basis. In addition, as a cooperative HTC has returned over $96 million in capital credits to its members since 1979. HTC has been in business since 1952 and has grown to be the largest telecommunications cooperative in the United States.
“The HTC Board of Directors, workforce and membership want to express our gratitude to the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation (MBREDC) for bestowing this honor upon HTC. The mission of the Cooperative always has been to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. The partnership with the MBREDC provides us an opportunity to fully utilize the state of the art network that we have deployed, as well as, helping to bring much needed job opportunities to the area. HTC will continue to do its part in stimulating a positive economic impact through its workforce, educational programs, technological advancements, and leadership, and ensuring the area is an attractive place to work for present and future businesses. We look forward to continuing our dedication and support of the MBREDC in fulfilling our mission,” said Mr. Charles Whaley, HTC President of the Board of Directors.
