Players and Spectators Were Able to Access Live Scoring Via Smart Phone Application
 
September 14, 2011, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Grow The Game (GTG) Golf, a revolutionary smart phone application and event management system that enables live scoring in a variety of formats, has claimed success after providing live scoring during the championship round at the 28th Annual GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship. The final round of the World Am was held at TPC Myrtle Beach on September 2, 2011. 

The live event scoring marked the first time that the technology was available for competitors, spectators and fans at the World Am. GTG scored the championship round in a gross/net format. Live scoring was accessed via a web-connected computer and through a cross-platform smart phone application using mobile devices (iPhone, Android, and Blackberry) and via non-mobile devices including iPad, iTouch and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
 
“The World Am was a huge success for us and this technology,” said Bob Selby, co-founder and CEO of Grow The Game Golf. “We were able to provide live scoring for all 76 players and it made following the final round much easier for everyone who logged onto our system with their smart phones while walking the course at TPC Myrtle Beach. Plus, we designed a Masters-style scoreboard via closed circuit television in the clubhouse, so people could watch the scores populate live.”

GTG Golf uses a web-based golf event management system and a cross-platform smart phone application. Each component is in constant communication with the other, providing the user with the most accurate, real-time scoring, live leaderboard and event management application.

The GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship is a 72-hole tournament with participants competing for the right to be crowned “World Amateur Golf Champion.” A total of 3,009 players from 47 states and 24 countries were flighted according to their handicap and at the conclusion of the four rounds, flight winners advanced to the 18-hole world championship round.
 
Grow The Game Golf plans to provide live event scoring for future golf tournaments including the Carolinas Pro Tour at Northstone Country Club in Huntersville, N.C., October 4-6, 2011.
